Hi, I am Ayub Khan from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia age 45 working as a despatch. My purpose of setting up this blog is to send out an appeal to whoever is reading this for HELP to save my 13 years old daughter Nur Aqueelah whom I loved much for an urgent surgery for Thoracic Outlet Syndrome.
This is the story of what happened and why I am in desperation seeking financial HELP openly with much humility.
Never in my wildest dream had I expected the fall could cause her a dramatic future of her life due to the negligence of medical doctor, which was reported in the local prime time national news in TV3
This is how it all happened…………..and the series of events that led her to her present condition of her hand and life that has even cause her losing her memory.
I am seeking financial help in order to receive treatment for my daughter, Aqeelah, in India this coming November 2011. I have sought help from various doctors in Kuala Lumpur:- from Hospital University Kebangsaan Malaysia, General Hospital Kuala Lumpur, University Hospital Malaysia and Assunta Hospital and few private hospitals to receive proper treatment for my daughter’s hand which had become gangrenous.
Over a 1 week period, 3 operations were performed in a prestigious hospital in Ampang, Kuala Lumpur. The result was gangrene in her left hand and we have lost faith on that hospital which is suppose to be the best hospital in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The fall did not seem serious at first, but later she complained of numbness and a burning sensation in her hand. She was crying and complaining about the pain in her hand. We took her to a clinic and they prescribed medicine for the pain. The medicine did not help so we took her to a private hospital where they did an x-ray. No fracture was found and they also gave her more medicine.
I was still not satisfied, so I took her to another hospital. CT scan was performed, and they found a blood clot in her forearm. An operation was done to remove the clot, but there were further complications. There was no pulse in her arm so they performed a second operation. It was after the second operation that the gangrene first appeared.

An operation was done to remove the clot, but there were further complications. There was no pulse in her arm so they performed a second operation. It was after the second operation that the gangrene first appeared.
The blood was still not flowing, as it should so they decided to put in a stent (an artificial 'tube'). During this third operation, Aqeelah suffered a stroke. She was in ICU for 8 days; she was unable to eat, walk, speak or see properly and her behavior became childlike. At this point a doctor recommended we amputate her hand to stop the gangrene from spreading. We were loath to do this and, therefore, sought alternative treatment.
Upon discharge from the hospital, 22 days later, she was still unable to walk and her speech was still impaired. As a last resort to save her hand from the gangrene, we gave her treatment in a hyperbaric chamber (below) in Ampwalk Mall Clinic. After 5 treatments, she was able to walk, but she still had behavior problems. The treatment arrested the gangrene, but for full recovery the doctor prescribed hyperbaric treatment everyday. Unfortunately, we could only afford to send her for treatment 3 times a week and completed 40 sessions in all. Her speech and motor skills improved, and her behavior somewhat improved as well. The doctor advised us to do another 40 sessions, but we could not afford this either.
Our next option was to seek treatment in India. Further scans were done to discover why the circulation in her forearm was impeded and the gangrene set in. An MRI was also done to see why she couldn’t focus her eyes; they prescribed medicine for this condition. In the doctor’s opinion, amputation of the thumb and fingers was necessary, and he quoted the cost as INR 350k The doctor suggested a return visit to India for further treatment.
We couldn’t afford the cost in India, so we returned to Malaysia to have the operation done. In K.L. we consulted a specialist who completed the operation. She had half of her thumb, index finger, and middle finger removed, as well as the tips of her ring and baby finger. She is recovering nicely, but now needs reconstruction surgery and cost about RM 60,000 to 80,000 in Pantai Hospital.
As mentioned before, we are not in a financial position to give our daughter the required treatment. Of course, as loving parents, we are heartsick about our own inability to help our daughter receive the best treatment available. We all pray that funds, either through donation from family, friends or compassionate strangers will help us realize the best treatment and result for our dear child.
Here is a brief summary of the expenses we have incurred so far:
1st Treatment: hospital in Ampang – RM 54,000
2nd Treatment: clinic Ibrahim in AmpWalk Mall – RM 16,000 ( tel : 603-21632469 )
( Hyperbaric Chamber treatment )
( Hyperbaric Chamber treatment )
3rd Treatment: leach and acupuncture treatment in Pandan – RM 1,600
4th Treatment: further medical examination-RM 3,500
5th Treatment: eye check-up in Ampang Puteri hospital – RM 600
6th Treatment: overall previous treatment in India and travel costs – RM 16,000
My financial resources have been exhausted, so we are now hoping for donations of up to RM 250,000 in order to go back to hospital for follow up treatment to remove the stent on her arm a do bypass surgery and also another surgery to reconstruct her fingers and thumb which were partially amputated in K.L. Some doctors recommended to go to Singapore ( Mount Elizabeth Hospital ) because they have the best solutions for her thumb transplant surgery. So, I am in midst of preparing for the expanses and its worries me as well, and how much would be cost still puzzle to me.
I have no choice that I have got to sell my house which we are currently staying, so that, I can pay up my debts with people whom I borrowed for buying medicines for my daughter and others expenses that occurred. Nevertheless, I still owed the bank on the property, which is worrying me often. Below is the add on the paper and bank statement. I cannot afford to purchase medicine and medication for my daughter.
My Appeal
My daughter need urgent surgery for Thorasic Oulet Syndrome whereby the cost of operation we cannot afford for her to go ahead.
Why? Because so many surgery to take place;
1) Need to do brain surgery due to infraction on cerebellum and cerebral palsy (that’s why she is becoming childlike if see on her behavior) to remove blood clot due to stroke in her brain.
2) To reconstruct her hand by cutting one of her toe and transplant on her index thumb finger.
3) Surgery on her skin (hand) engraving to remove the blackish spot of gangrene. (dead tissues)
4) Surgery on her eye for better vision.
5) Plastic surgery on the three fingers.
6) Need to remove the stent which was implanted on her arm and do by pass without cutting the rib (TOS) Thoracic Outlet Syndrome which is urgent now.
Total cost estimated above RM 250,000.
My humble appeal with humility to the noble and kind hearted to help us with your generous contribution to save my daughter and for her future to live well. Any amount will made a great different, even its $10. I am praying and doing everything I can to reach out to the world with my humble appeal for any generous contribution to give back the life to my daughter whom I loved much.
